Low Fat Low Carb Diet Knowledge Base
Does a low carb diet cause you to lose muscle? If so, what is the most effective way to lose body fat? I'm currently doing cardio 3 times a week coupled with power strength training twice a week. I used to eat good carbs (like multi grain bread, wheat and granola cereal, etc) and have lost 15kg in the past 6 months with about 10% of body fat down. Recently one health instructor I met told me that going on low carb is even better and I'll lose weight even faster. I have since then (for about a week now) been on a low carb and it feels weird to be on a low carb, high fat & protein diet since I've been on a low fat diet for some time. I've also been researching and it seems low carb diets are unhealthy. Is this true? Pls advise. Thanks.
Will Hydroxycut Hardore help a person who is on a low fat/ carb diet and also exercises 5 times a week? I am on a low carb/fat diet and do cardio exercise and walking 5 times a week, but i heard that HYDROXYCUT hardcore could help me get results faster, but its not like i only depend on the pill, since my METABOLISM is kinda low, i wanted to use this pill to help me lose the extra pounds ( 30 lbs ) by april. How much fat can you have on a low carb diet? I'm not interested in people's opinions of low carb/high fat diets. I simply want to know from people who follow them or know about them what the recommended amount of fat is, or if it is largely unrestricted. Thank you to all sincere answerers.
I am switching from a low carb diet to a low fat diet diet. Do you think I will gain weight? I have been on a low carb diet for seven months and I've lost 25 lbs. I have pleateued at the same weight for about 3 months. I want to try and exercise more but I find I have no energy to run as much as I used to before low carb. I also miss fruits and whole grains, such as cereal, and I need more fiber in my diet (its very hard to use the bathroom on low carb if you know what I mean). I know I lost weight on low carb and I'm scared to death if I switch back I will regain. I'm just so confused! And if I do add carbs back should I still limit them? Like only at breafkast and lunch? Someone who is nowledgeable please help!! Thanks so much.
Can I go on a low carb and low fat diet while going on Accutane? Hi, I really want to go on this strict low cal low carb and low fat diet, and exercise as well. But, I heard that you should take the accutane pill with fatty foods, because it absorbs better? Any thoughts? Would it be dangerous or will the medicine not work well if I do go on this diet and exercise regime. Thank you.
Can a Low carb, High fat diet help against Alzhiemers? I think my grandma might have alzhiemers, but I'm not sure. I've read about a ketogenic diet helping relieve alzhiemers. http://www.webmd.com/alzheimers/news/20051018/high-fat-low-carb-diet-may-help-alzheimers I wish to put my grandma on this diet. But How do I go about doing so? I can't just put her straight on it. What do I do?
What diet is better...low fat or low carb? I hear that the low carb diet is great, but when people get off of it, then they gain a lot of weight back, and i defiantly do not want that... On the other hang, i haven't every heard anything either way about a low fat diet.. I need some help, please! :]
How can I reduce my fat intake while on a low carb diet? My doctor recently put me on a low carb diabetic diet. I am not a diabetic - yet. I have a very high insulin resistance in which he wants to treat with diet and exercise and diabetic meds. I have been charting everything I eat, the calories, the fat grams, the carbs, fiber and protein. However, since my carbs have decreased, it seems that my fat intake has increased - at least it seems that way in the pie chart. Is it possible to reduce the fat AND carbs? The doc wants me under 35 carbs a day which is extremely hard to do as it is. It seems like the lower fat foods have a higher carb content and the higher fat foods have a lower carb content. I am concerned about my blood lipids, blood pressure and overall heart health. I would greatly appreciate any tips or advice you may have to offer. Thanks! Oh, the reason I am so insulin resistant is due to the PCOS that I was diagnosed with a year ago. It's sypmtoms have started to take over my body very quickly and has deemed me infertile, unless I can drop and control my insulin levels ASAP.
diabetic high carb low fat diet? i'm diabetic and have trouble with carbs. about 5 years ago before i was diagnosed with diabetes i was over weight and decided to go on my own diet. i started eating soups low in fat, high in carbs, between 1.5 and 3g of fat per servering. Because i wasn't on any medicine for my blood sugar the carbs kept my blood sugar high all the time but i managed to lose weight. I lost 30 pounds sticking to the low fat high carb diet. right now i am trying to eat low carb lean foods but i am always hungry and am having trouble with my energy levels. i read a lot about losing weight this way but i just can't stick with it. I am on insulin now and thinking of going back to the low fat high carb diet and wanted some feed back on what other diabetics think of this idea to lose weight.
what diet is better for a woman low carb or low fat? Last year I did the low carb diet and lost like 10+ pounds. This year when I started dieting again, low carb did not work--I have lost nothing and I think Im getting fatter in my legs and stomach. Someone told me to try low fat? Any advice on which is actually better.
How does a low fat diet work? I know that with a low carb diet, because you are not replenishing your carbohydrates by eating them, your body has to go into your "stored carbs" for energy and when that it gone it goes to your "stored fat". So what happens when you don't eat fat? I know your body needs some fats for health, but when you are on a low fat high carb diet and are not eating fats does it go into your fat stores to get them? I know ultimately it is about calories in versus calories out but I still want to know what is happening inside our bodies.
so if low fat diet raises triglycerides but low carb moderate fat diets increase cholesterol, WTF can I eat? This is getting ridiculous. I used to do a low carb diet, which is higher fat than your typical low fat low calorie diet. Well, my cholesterol got way too high, but my triglycerides were good, so to lower my cholesterol I went vegetarian, and eat small amounts of bread, and plenty of fruits and veggies, now my cholesterol is low, and my triglycerides are very high at 200. What the hell am I supposed to eat? I mean if I can't be healthy eating vegetarian and working out, then I must be doomed.
High fat/low carb diet question...? I currently weigh 158 lbs at 5'9 and I am 20 years old. I am looking to gain weight on my arms. I am in perfect shape for 158lbs, but I am not looking to tone up, at least not in my arms just yet. So my question is, would getting on a 5 meal low carb high fat diet( I don't actually mean high in fat, I just cant really find a word for mid fat) benefit me in gaining weight in my arms if I cut down on cardio and focus more on upper body training?
Switching from a low-carb diet to a low-fat diet? I've been on the atkins diet for about 2 weeks now but ive started feeling really weak and so i think i should start eating more carbs. I still want to lose weight though so i have decided to switch to a low fat diet instead. Will i put on any weight when or after i switch diets?
What is your opinion of the strict low carb high fat diet? and do you think it works, or will it just make me gain weight in the long run. I had my son 6 months ago and lost all but about 12 pounds and that was 2 months ago. I have been on a low calorie diet and work out for an hour or more just about every day, but can't seem to lose the last 12 pounds. I am at a loss. I have had blood work and my thyroid is fine, so I don't know what could make the scale not budge. Help.
Which is better for health, low fat diet or low carb diet? I admit to being confused with conflicting research at the moment. The low carb diet, which eliminates most bread, pasta, rice, fruits and potatoes is apparently good for weight reduction and even though high in fat,is said to lower weight and lower LDL cholesterol. It states this on the Atkins website and backs it up with science. The low fat diet is high in carbs which are also bad for diabetes and high cholesterol. Armed with this, just what is a healthy diet based on that prevents cholesterol and arterial deposits when both very differen diets slam each other?
Any ideas for a low-carb/low-fat diet? We would like to know if there are low fat/ low carb options to our favorite foods. Most of what we eat is american cuisine but, do enjoy chinese or mexican once in a while. Thanks! Although I appreciate the suggestions on exercise, that's not what I was asking for. I realize exercise is key to maintaining or losing weight. I would like to know if any one has ideas for foods or recipes that we can work into this particular lifestyle.
Question about low fat/low carb diet.? I'm not overweight. Actually I'm on the low side of the normal weight range for my height. But I'm pretty healthy. Still, recently I got really into healthy eating for my wellness well-being and such. So I tried to look up some information on that online. And a lot of website talks about low fat or low carb diet. so I was wondering if either low fat or low carb diet has any "health" benefit besides weight loss. Including Atkins diet and south-beach diet.
low carb low fat diet cycling? Okay, Now I have tried both diets.....and both work good...although low carb diets do work faster in the beginning...so what if I went back and forth between low carb and low calorie for a period of time....say for instance do low carb 2 weeks and then low calorie and then back to low carb..... wouldn't you think the weight would just drop off fast? I know that any time I first started a low carb diet I always lost like 5-7 lbs in a week......So...what do you think? Good idea or not?
I am on a low carb diet, working out 5 times per week and not loosing weight? I have been on a low carb, low fat diet for 3 weeks, do cardio for 40 minutes 5-6 times per week and do weights 3 times per week and have not lost weight. I lost a few pounds the 1st week and have plateaud after that. I feel more toned, but don't see a big change in how my clothes fit. Any suggestions on how to shed some pounds? Or do I have to wait for my body to adjust to the new routine? I get discouraged but realize it can take a while...also I am 38 years old I forgot to mention, I weigh 157lbs and I am 5'8" tall. I do eat healthy, no junk food, only eat at home and drink 8 glasses of water per day.
I started a low-carb diet, but that meant more fat? I have lost 55 lbs and started to plateau, so I started to cut down on my carbs. I have been on a low-fat diet for the past 6 months, I noticed today after logging what I ate, that my fat consumption was the highest since I was trying to lower my carbs... is this ok?
What amount of fat and carbs should I have for a low fat low carb diet? I use livestrong.com to track what I eat every day. Not done eating for the day yet and I already ate 22g fat and 108g of carbs. It sounds like a lot but underneath those amounts it says 36% for fat and 39% for carbs. Does that mean that I only ate less than 50% of what I should have in a day? How many grams of fat and carbs should I try to stay under to continue my low fat low carb diet. Hope I'm not confusing anyone. Thanks :)
Atkins for abs then back to a low fat high carb diet? I want to lose some body fat and develop abs before I build muscle. Does this sound like a sound approach: Go on Atkins for a month/ exercise to lose the necessary body fat, during this time I'll be working to tone my abs, then revert back to a low fat high carb diet to build muscle all over. Comments/Concerns? BTW I am M 5'8" 188 lbs
Can I have vanilla in my green tea on a low fat diet? Like the little bottles of vanilla you can buy from tesco, i like vanilla i think it would keep my cravings at bay. Would it be okay to have it if I'm trying to lose body fat on a low fat (and fairly low carb) diet?
Difference between low carb, low fat and low calorie diet? I know that for ex low carb diets, you eat less carbs but I wanna know if there is difference in the results. So what does low carb, low fat and low calorie diet each do to your body? Is there a difference in the results. Which one is the best?
Transitioning from Low Carb to Low Calorie/Fat Diet? Is there a way to properly transition from a Low Carb Diet to a Low Fat/Calorie diet without gaining too much weight???? I've been doing a Low Carb Diet for the past 3 months, and I'm just not into it anymore. I've lost a good 15lbs or so but can't handle the constipation issues (I've taken many things to help) or the fact that when I just want to have a cheat day for a special occasion I can't, without setting myself back 2weeks! I've done low fat before, and my body responded much better. The reason I chose low carb was because I wanted to try something different, and was excited about all of the food I could have. Now I'm ready for a change, that I can stick to long term. Thanks!
On a low-carb diet, are you supposed to eat less than "maintenance calories" to lose fat? I'm trying a low-carb diet to lose a stubborn last 10 pounds. Do I have to eat less than the calories required for maintenance on a traditional low-fat diet? (That's about 2500/day, in my case.) I'm finding it nearly impossible to cut calories on a low-carb diet (I'm keeping it under 20 grams of carbs a day, by the way). If you do have to cut calories as well as carbs, what is the point of low-carb diets? For a given number of calories, you can eat at least 5 times more food on a low-fat diet if you choose the right foods. On a low-fat diet, I could eat a pound of vegetables for the same amount of calories that I get with just an ounce or two of meat on a low-carb diet. Thanks!
I need to eat a low carb diet, but im a vegetarian? for medical reasons, i have to eat a low carb/low fat diet, but i am vegetarian (i dont eat fish either)..... what can i eat?? i am very worried my diet is going to be very limited... Im not keen on eggs either..... any advice will be much appriciated.
will i be able to lose the body fat with a low carb diet? so i lift all the time but i have that annoying layer of body fat that is tough to get rid of! if i were to drop my carb intake down to a low carb diet or even a no carb diet, but keep my protein intake up as well as maintain my current lifting habits then would a be able to dorp a little body fat in 2 weeks? thankyou.
What can I cook for a low fat, low carb, low sugar, low sodium diet? My husband has been put on a low everything diet, I dont have a clue what to cook. He is a BIG junk food junkie. I made chicken and veggie soup lastnight that did not go over well at all. Also he puts in long days at work 10-15 hrs as a driver and I need to make sure he has plenty to munch through out that time. Ideas please!!!
How is it possible to lose weight on low carb diet and exercise? To lose weight you have to burn more calories than you eat, but it seems you would have to exercise all day to burn calories if you are on the high cal high fat low carb diet. I ask this because I lost 30 lbs on the low carb diet with no exercise. Now I am back on low carb and exercising and I'm not losing the weight I did when I went on the diet the first time, but I thought if I added exercise my weight loss would sky rocket.
i need to eat a low carb diet, but im vegetarian? for medical reasons, i have to eat a low carb/low fat diet, but i am vegetarian (i dont eat fish either)..... what can i eat?? i am very worried my diet is going to be very limited... Im not keen on eggs either..... any advice will be much appriciated.
Switching from Low-Carb diet to Low-Fat........? I have been doing the Low Carb diet for a few months now to lose a big portion of weight which has been 30lbs. I do still want to lose some more weight, but my question is regarding healthiness and food choices. I am wondering if it will be a good idea to go back to a Low Fat diet such as eating a lot of Subway and such, like fruits and vegetables but continuing to exercise, basically watching my caloric intake. Will I still lose weight switching this way? I also want to bring my blood pressure and probably my cholesterol down because I'm sure they aren't the greatest doing the Low Carb diet. Thanks for any info you can provide!
which is better a low carb high protein diet or a low calorie low fat diet? obviously either would be paired with plenty of water and exercise. see I quit smoking jan 1st and I know that the decrease in nicotine will slow my metabolism 10% and since I lack a lot of muscle mass I will gain weight. I would like to combat that by dieting so....from personal experience people which diet would help me to lose weight quicker and be able to keep it off? I did the atkins once and lost 17 lbs in 3 weeks but put the weight right back on when I went back to eating normal foods. Never tried a low calorie diet...do they really work? I am wanting to lose 50 lbs in a year and I already lost 25 last year so I know I can do it. I did it last year by cutting out soda completely and walking 30 mins a week. I have hit a stumbling block and now I need to take it that step further. So what do you think my diet should be? Also have you ever heard of a low carb, low cal, high protein diet...and do you think it would work?
If im on a low carb and low fat diet? How many grams of fat, carbs, and calories do i probably need to eat? Im trying to lose 20-30 lbs in 2-21/2 months please help its really important. And what excersizes do i need to do? thanks for answering!
