Has anyone tried the low carb diet?
I am thinking of trying the Low Carb diet. Has it worked for any of you? If so, what kind of recipes do you reccommend?

- I doubt anyone has ever thought of trying a low carb diet. Maybe you could try it and write a book detailing your experiences?
- The best diet you can get is one that is heavy on the fruits and vegetables. Going low carb helps if you learn the difference between good carbs and bad carbs and pay attention to net carbs. Something can be high in carbs, but if a large part of these are dietary fiber, the net carbs are much lower. Fiber is a carbohydrate that the body does not absorb so it does no harm. Also, pay close attention to refined sugars and grains. Both of these subjects are far worse for your weight than the natural sugars and whole grains. The sugars you get in fruits and veggies are easily processed and readily burned and the body doesn't look to store them nearly as much. And the best thing is to look for balance in both diet and exercise. The body needs balance, and providing it will build a healthy, toned body and will improve mental and physical performance.
- I have tried it and so have many ppl I know.. If you really want to do it, you should read about it. You could read "Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution", or get an Atkin's Starter kit that comes with a manual, if you are not much of a reader. It does work, but you should really learn about it first. there are a lot of misconceptions about it.
- I have lost 45 lbs with this diet. I use a variation of atkins, but there are others to choose from. I started a website: http://www.lowcarbworld.net but it is pretty new. On the site, you can keep a food/workout/weight diary of your progress. Studies have shown this is very effective in helping you track your weight loss, find patterns, and eliminate the foods that cause you to gain. There is also a recipe section, and there are a few recipes, but if you need one in particular, just ask me because I am sure I have tried it. You can also ask questions and much more. To give you a little info on the spot about the diet, you WILL lose 10 lbs if you follow it to a t, in two weeks. I lost 15 the first two weeks. It is good for people who have at least 10 pounds to lose, or more not someone looking to lose a quick five lbs- you will gain it back if you don't do it right. You will lose it quickly. It will be very hard the first 3 days, as your body is making a drastic diet change. Carbs are addicting. And your body is going through withdrawels. Once you get past the first week you will feel GREAT. (It is important you follow it and drink LOTS of water) you will not be hungry anymore and you will start concentrating on living, and spend a lot less time eating. I used to spend $2000 a month on grocerys. My hubby and I went on this and now we spend $1000. I hope to see you on the site!
