How much weight should you expect to lose on a low carb diet? Approx.?
Im am currently trying a low carb diet, were my limit of carb intake is around 20% of my daily intake. Even though this type of diet allows a high fat intake, I am only trying to eat healthy fats and the remainder of my diet is protein. Also I will be exercise 30 mins everyday whether its cardio or strenght training. Has anyone ever tried this before and was there a significant weightloss or is sticking to a low calorie diet a better idea???

- All.
- i think with this diet u can lose 1pound a week or 2 pound........not more than that.if u lose fastly then u will gain much sooner.so lose slowly and steadly
- I've tried it and it works - but only short term. Recent studies have concluded that the best way to lose weight and keep it off in the long term is a fat and calorie restricted diet. Try something like Weight Watchers ( I did and lost 20 pounds and kept it off) that teaches you how to eat normal, healthy foods as a lifestyle, not a diet. Good luck!
- It all depend how hard hard and how much you exercise and what your starting weight is in the first place.
- doesn't matter how much you loose you put it back on again when you finish the diet - the best way to eat is a healthy diet for the rest of your life.
- Low carb diets can result in rapid weight loss but you will almost inevitably go back to you old eating ways and put the weight back on. In addition, not having many carbs in your diet will make keeping to you fitness regime much more difficult. If you want to lose weight permanently you need to change your lifestyle rather than go on a diet. Try changing one of your regular meals/snacks each week to either a smaller portion or something healthy, this way over the space of a few weeks you'll have a much healthier diet which you can stick with forever. The beauty of it is you don't have to totally cut the things you love out e.g. If you have a takeaway every Friday night, start just eating half, and save the rest for lunch next day. Over a period of say 10 weeks coupled with your excercise you should notice a signifigant weight loss.
- What you are doing is wonderful. But you can't call it a DIET, this has to be a permanent lifestyle change for you. Eating foods that are low fat, high protein, & low carb are good for you. But you need to make sure you are eating good carbs and good fats....such as legumes, soybeans, asparagus, spinach, etc. Avacados are a great "good" fat food if you can stand to eat them. If you must have carbs eat them before you workout since they burn off quicker. Make sure you keep your exercise routine up even if you just walk at a quick pace. Good luck and remember, it's a lifestlye change.
- I just started back on a low carb eating plan because it seems to be the only thing that works for me ! I am one of those people who is addicted to sugar, and I can honestly say that when I stick with a low carb plan I don't crave sugar and I feel so much better. I got started on Atkins when I was a teenager (under my mothers supervision) and lost about 50 lbs. and was able to maintain my weight for several years, until I discovered drinking and partying ! So now I am about 20 lbs over my ideal weight and I know it will come off sticking to a low carb eating plan. You really have to commit to it as a way of life or it will not work. I am doing the "induction phase " of Atkins right now, then I will slowly add in "good carbs" like more veggies, then I will follow more of a South Beach diet approach for maintenance. Low carb eating does work, just beware of some of those "low carb" bars and candies, because they are total BS and will throw off your weight loss ! Stick with foods that are naturally low carb and drink PLENTY of water and you will be fine.Good luck !
