  1. At least 2oz of fat. You need it in your diet or your nervous system suffers. I actually had a fat deficiency once when I was living mostly on stir fried veggies, rice and eggs.
  2. I'm not sure about a specific amount in grams, I think no more than 30% of your calories are supposed to come from fats. So, if you were eating 1200 calories a day, that means that 360 of them could come from fat. Since fat has about 10 calories per gram, that means 36 grams of fat a day. That's my best assumption. About your dieting; I know it's easy to include good fats in your diet while still losing weight. I lost 40 lbs recently, and while I was doing that I ate 1 egg a day at breakfast and had 1 serving of full fat yogurt at lunch. The key to weight loss is to burn more calories than you put into your body, but including healthy fats is important for many reasons. First of all, you won't get bored and you'll stick to eating right. Also, it is beneficial to your body, and (good from a dieter's perspective) helps you feel satisfied so you don't overeat. Ideas: Nuts are a great source of good fats; you can toss some in your oatmeal or cereal or just have them for a snack. Instead of salad dressing, drizzle salads with olive oil and vinegar, or drizzle cooked veggies with olive oil. Avocados are a delicious addition to soups (especially spicy ones, add sliced avocado as a topping just before serving), salads and sandwiches. Good Luck to you!
  3. According to Eat to Live by Dr. Joel Furhman, if you follow a plant-based diet you will naturally consume sufficient healthy fats from the fat that is found in vegetables, beans, and grains. If you are trying to lose weight, following a whole foods, plant-based diet with primarily fresh fruits and vegetables is the way to go. See the site below for meal plans and recipes.
  4. Not more than 30% of your calories should come from FAT. I too am dieting & I am doing 20% or less. My personal trainer(Vegan) has me using FitDay to help me see how I am doing. Easy to use & Free. http://fitday.com/
  5. What you need to do is set yourself a proper carolie controlled diet. It's no good just guessing. What you body needs per day is also based on your height age and gender and level of exercise you perform. Starting a diet is hard and can leave many people quitting before they reall see results. Do your seof a favor and follow the advice layed out in the article below. It gives sound advice and can help someone like you stick to it. Tip's On Sticking With A DietĀ  Dieting can be so hard. Many people go on diets each year, only to wind up heavier than before. The key to a diet is not only to go on a diet but to stay on it. It is critical to know how to stick to your diet. Fortunately there are some tips most of us can use to successfully stick to our diets. Plan your meals ahead of time. We are all going to have three meals a day, seven days a week. Most of these meals you can plan ahead of time. If you are smart about it, you can eat things that you enjoy that are low calorie and delicious. Planning your meals means that you are eating healthy foods that taste good and are also good for you too. When you plan your meals you also ensure that you are getting some variety in your meals as well. Eat snacks. This may sound kind of funny, telling dieters to eat something, but eating snacks on your diet is actually very helpful. Most people will have some type of snack during the time and it is critical that these snacks are healthy and low calorie. There are many low calorie healthy snacks that you can enjoy. Fruits and veggies are an easy snack that is portable and high in fiber. Popcorn is also an ideal snack for dieters. One slip doesn't mean you've blown it all. Some dieters feel that when they've had an extra cookie or a dish of ice cream, that they've blown the diet. If you do slip up don't let it ruin your whole day. Everyone slips every once in awhile. It is important to have a positive attitude with these slips and to bounce right back. Getting back on track means that you'll keep losing weight instead of gaining. Know your temptations. We're all tempted by something. For some of us it is Grandma's home cooking. Others find the office cafeteria desserts tempting. Others still find parties their worst temptation. Or fast food is their temptation. Do whatever you can do reduce your exposure to these temptations. That doesn't mean that you don't see Grandma while you are on your diet, it does mean that you visit her and only have coffee or a light snack. Try a diet plan that works.
