Is it OK to drink beer while following a Vegan diet?
I enjoy having a beer here and there. I'm also in the infancy for becoming a vegan. Is drinking beer ok while on the vegan diet?

- well beer makes you fat
- All German beer is vegan. Some law about what can't be used to clarify it.
- of course you can drink beer just not too much :) and its also ok to drink as long as you workout :D
- Do what makes you happy. It's not the vegan police will arrest you or god will send you to hell for not following the vegan diet.
- You'd have to check with the individual breweries, since they have their different recepies, but most beers don't contain anything from animals.
- All the other answers are wrong! You cannot consume living things when you are a vegan (as is my understanding, Im not one my self). To make ANY AND EVERY alcohol you need to use yeast. Yeast is a living organism. Its more humane per se to drink cows milk than it is to consume yeast. Im not even sure if a vegan can eat bread cos of that. Basically being a vegan is impossible!!
- Most beers are unsuitable for Vegans, that includes most German beers despite what someone else has answered. This is because they use isinglass as a fining agent, and this is made from fish swim bladders. Becks is probably the most easily found Vegan beer, but more brewers are moving away from isinglass
- not a good idea
- beer will make you fat. Ever herd of the beer belly. if your trying to loose weight i wouldnt
- Beer is made from grain and yeast. Yeast is a living single microscopic bacteria but almost every fruit does have wild yeast in it. So I would think beer is perfectly fine
- One of the processes to get the beer to fall star bright is to use Isinglass, made from fish bladders. I don't know of any that advertise themselves as vegan beers. Mind you, after 1 to many, I sometimes turn into an animal, growl.
