A Healthy Daily Diet?
I am just getting into this fitness thing (I want to do some modeling and be healthier), and I was wondering what to eat. I am already a vegetarian. I want to cut out sugar and dairy pretty much completely (I am taking a multivitamin and calcium vitamins) to keep my skin clear and bright. I am 5 feet 6 and 1/2 inches, 117 pounds. I often find I just forget to eat or don't have enough time. I need to fix that, and exercise as well. Does anyone have any general or food tips? Thank you! :)

- Your best chance at sucess for a lifesyle change. (That's what you want to do) is to see a dietician first. They will be able to help you with a meal plan. You also will need support. If you have a friend that is interesed in doing the same thing then it will be easier for you to stay commited. Good Luck
- My first bit of advise would be to be careful and dont listen to any of the diet fads that are rife everywhere. Most of them are dangerous. At 5ft 6 and 1/2 I wouldnt think you need to loose any weight so try and keep at that weight and just eat healthy. Dont cut out calcium for your diet, its not worth it, especially if you are exercising. Women are far more at risk of osteoporosis and believe me you dont want it. Im 28 and I have it through too much exercise and cutting out essential things out of my diet when I was younger. I now know better. If you really want to cut some out try soya milk etc as that has quite a bit of calcium althought not as good as the real thing. What to eat...well make sure you eat 3 meals and snacks a day. If you dont it slows down your metabolism and if you dont take in enough energy through food for the amount of exercise you do your body could end up eating muscle. Foods good for vegetarians are nuts, seeds, pulses inc chick peas. Eggs are excellent and cheese is very versatile. Would you consider fish? Oily fish is full of omega 3 which is excellent for the mood, skin etc as are nuts and dark chocolate too. Our bodies do need some sugar so dont cut it out completely. Try and aim for your 5 portions of fruit and veg a day and dont cut out carbs. Best of luck Hope that helped a bit
- general tip: people eat more than they think they do so keep a food log. You can find a good one with all the nutritional facts, fat, calories, carbs, etc, at www.fitday.com
