vegetarian on a diet??
I'm trying to restrict my caloric intake to 1200 calories a day and burn about 400 daily. I am a pescetarian (I eat only seafood meat). How can I recieve all the nutrients I need without feeling fatigued or surpassing my calorie limit. I'm moderately active and feel tired without food (doesn't matter if it's nutritious or not). Thanks.

- It's not hard at all. I'm a pescetarian myself, I'm very active and I never feel fatigued. Take a multivitamin everyday (something that everyone vegetarian or not should do), get enough protein, carbs and calories and you'll be as good as anyone else. If anything, you'll have more energy than most regular meat eaters. As for your calorie intake: I think that it would be better if you raise your calorie limit and increased your activity level. Bring it up to about 1800 calories a day and increase your activity level. It will be better for your health and overall wellness. I hope that helps.
- You can receive all the nutrients you need from a whole foods, plant based diet. You don't even need the seafood. I'm not talking about refined foods, I am talking about whole grains and fresh fruit & vegetables. There is a great website www.whfoods.com breaks down all the different nutrients in different foods. There are a lot of good recipes there, too. I garentee you will have more energy from this diet than any other you have been on. There is a really good book on this subject called "The China Study" involving the effects of animal fat/protien you might be interested in. The problem with limiting your caloric intake so heavily is 1) it is time consuming and 2) it doesn't work in the long run, because if you are starving yourself, eventually you will break down and eat, and it will probably be something quick that you will later wish you hadn't. This is a lifestyle, not a qick fix or a fad diet. Start the day with fresh fruits - try different kinds and eat as as much as you like up to about noon, and then switch to veggies. Make yourself an enormous salad and eat it for lunch. Try a steamed sweet potato with avacado for dinner. If your body gets the nutrients it needs, you won't break down and gain it all back. As long as you are eating these types of foods you won't need to worry about calories, or fat or carbs or whatever, and you will have more energy than you ever thought imaginable! Good luck!
